Cam sprocket removal

Without the special BS tool from subaru, what is a good way to remove the cam sprockets? I've tried a strap wrench, but I can't get a good enough amount of leverage.
I have the Tbelt already off, so I suppose I should have broken the bolts when I broke the crank pulley.
Anyone have any tricks they use?

Which engine are you working on? If it's an EJ22, the factory manual shows a picture of a flat-bladed screwdriver through the spokes of the sprocket to hold it while you loosen the bolt.
That's what I did, piece of cake...lol, I would have done it even if it wasn't in the manual!

Yeah, the ej22.
I was thinking about that, but just wanted some opinions before I did it. I have used plenty of tricks loosening these bolts on this engine, so I know I probably would have figured something out.

Or get a cam gear wrench if the screwdriver doesn't cut it.

Unfortunately my compressor crapped out, because I sure wish I had that damn thing to break the bolts.
I used a wide chisel to jam the sprocket up, and that worked pretty good for the drivers side because there is a bolt behind it to gain leverage. The Pass. side looks like another challenge, but I've yet to get to it yet.
Unfortunately, all my parts I needed came today and found that I mistakenly forgot to order the crank seal and the Oring for the camshaft on the drivers side was what was leaking, not the oil seal itself. Damn!
