Battery and brake warning lights come on/off when running

I have a 93 legacy L wagon awd and recently the battery and brake warning lights will flash on and off for a few seconds they even seem to be staying on a little more now the more I drive it. The headlights and and even the dash lights are dimmer when they come on like its starving for juice. It seems like my alternator is going bad ? It still turns over just fine? Is it the alternator or do i need to decode it to be sure?

sounds like the alternator, i'd rip it apart to check.

Yeah the alternator looks to be original and its got 170K on it so hopefully thats all it is

Possibly check your connections and connectors on the alternator, and battery.

rockauto.com generally has pretty good deals. Also gets to you in a reasonable time too.

just a quick note. Alternators are very simple and easy to rebuild, and alot cheaper.

If it is more then just worn out brushes which I have found not the be the issue with more then one alternator then just get a reman. alternator. If the winning are bad or something else not worth the money to replace it as just the other parts can cost more then a reman alternator.
