air suspension on Turbos?

Post by wtdash »

Found this LINK

Scroll down and the dash shows the Height button.

Anyone confirm that this was an option?

I thought it only came on the NA wagons???

Cars101.com confirms that, too, but it's been wrong b4.

I didn't think the turbo's came with air suspension, but if you look closely at the strut top dust caps, they are notched for the wires coming out of the air struts.....so it looks like it's true.

I have seen, in person, a gray 93 Turbo sedan back in 00 that had the pneumatic suspension, at least as far as I can tell.

Interesting. No turbo was supposed to come with air suspension, but Subaru throws in a lot of wildcards for some reason.

Dave, the strut tops on that grey sedan don't have air hoses going into them, so that one must have been swapped as well.

Air compressor. It is mounted under the battery in the fender well.

It is kinda cool, but the the ride is not what you'd call sporty...
They came with huge swaybars, too, so if you spot one in a wreckers yard, get the swaybars, it's a good cheap upgrade.

The ability to jack up the ride height on command is nice if you do lots of snow or dirt/gravel road driving.
I'm hoping to be able to figure out how to fool the sytem into lowering it all the way... dump all or most of the pressure without activating the compressor to slam it when I want.
Maybe just a switch, wired to cut out the compressor, and also hold open the "lower" solenoid so the pressure escapes?
