The Subaru Emblem

Every car company's emblem stands for something, or is something i guess.

AKA.. Chevy's emblem is a bowtie.
Ford is a blue oval

etc..

What does the Subaru emblem stand for and or signify?

i mean it's stars, and then what?

random thought i know,

The stars are the Pleiades constellation, beyond that I'm not sure either...

Subaru is a Japanese word that means unite, as well as a term identifying a cluster of six stars, which the Greeks called Pleiades - part of the Taurus constellation.

I suddenly understand the "Stars of Pleiades" championship in Gran Turismo 4. Never had any clue why in the world "Pleiades" refered to Subarus, I though it was where their first factory was or something.
