Hi I got a 1993 Legact Nonturba AWD with a 5 speed. WHen it gets real warm >10 miles 3gear starts to grind on each shift. If I go slow it works fine.
I am thinking replace the tranny oil wioth some good synthetic. What do u all think?
Amsoil 75-90 full synthetic?
What do others use?
Anyone else have a similiar issue?

Is the Front Diff part of the tranny? Seems like it is.

Thanks
terryg

I use Valvoline 75W-90 regular gear oil.

I've used redline and swepco to no avail. I swear these transmissons love whatever fluid the factory puts in them.

But it sounds like the fluid in your trans is broken down pretty bad. Try something with friction modifies for your synchros.

seems like with a manual it is the same part as the tranny. my old 95 imp. 5mt only had one stick which i assumed was for the tranny and front diff, seeing they both used the same gear oil.

as far as i know....

You are correct. On the MT, the differential and trans gears share a common fluid.
