Need P/N's ASAP!! - Resolved, thanks guys.

Post by skid542 »

So the local dealership is, well I guess what a dealership is - dang near worthless.

I called the parts guy this morning at 8am and told him what I wanted. He had no clue what I was talking about, said he'd talk to the tech's. I called again at 11am and he still hadn't talked to them. So I take the 20 min. diversion on my way home from work to stop by and make sure he got what I needed, get there at 4:30 (normal hours are 8-5) and he's gone home for the day. So I have no clue if he's ordered what I need. My car's up on jackstand's until I can get this in. I need to get the car running very soon so I can get the clutch broken in and a feel for the car before the test and tune day on 4/12. This is not to mention that I'm currently taking up my buddie's wife's spot in the garage and she's not real keen on it.[/rant]

So, what I need part numbers for is -

The plug that holds the clutch fork pivot pin into the transmission. It may not so much as hold it in, but keeps it from coming out. This really is the critical item.

The return spring, I believe this is the same one there is a sticky in the Reviews/Misc. forum for. So I think I'm good there.

The dynamic dampener. This is what my Haynes manual calls it. It's the thing that the return spring attaches to. It's mounted to the tranny itself.

Any help you can provide on this would be hugely appreciated. I really want to get my car running again by the end of this upcoming weekend. So if any of the guru's can throw a 'desperate' man a bone here it'd be great.

Thanks guys.

Awesome! Thank you very much! I'm calling genuinesubaruparts tomorrow morning and placing an expedited order. The other items I can go back and install but this and the two flywheel bolts I need before I can put it back together.

Thank you.

I'm guessing you're working on a 5spd SS?

I wish you had called me today. I must have overlooked these parts when I packed everything else up. I could have shipped them out to you this afternoon. If you don't sort this out in the morning call me. I can come up with all of this stuff for you. You don't have to fly solo on this.

BTW, the WRX doesn't use a centering spring. I sent you an '03 WRX shift linkage, which is why there's no spring.

The bellhousing cap should have been in the box, but it sounds like I missed it. I suspect it's rolling around in the back of my car somewhere.

Matt,

Honestly man, you are a life saver. I will give you a call in the morning. I trust you much more than the idiots behind the parts counter. I'll happily pay 2-day priority mail or whatever it takes to get it by Friday.

Thanks for the info on the centering spring. I take it just self-centers?

With regards to the bellhousing cap, my bet is that it fell out of the box in route somehow and then through the floor of the pallet.

And don't worry about my flying solo. You've given me tons of help through all of this.

I know I'm stressing over all this more than I need to but when the car's still on stands in my garage I don't mind taking my time but I hate it taking up space at a generous friend. It's horrible, I haven't felt this anxious/nervous about a project in a loooong time. I even kicked the crap out of my cat the other night when I was dreaming about driving my car and tried to clutch - he wasn't very pleased...

But I'll give you a call tomorrow morning.

BTW, I'm still going to be looking for a sticker to sport on the car during race days. I'm going to make a magnet that has stickers of the major players in my car's build.
