woops, not tranny fluid

Post by heathcom »

I thought it was tranny fluid leaking but I was checking the diff fluid, doh! Which is just clean oil looking almost yellow. Anyways, upon further inspection, the leak is coming from the valve covers dripping right on the exhaust pipe coming down. This looks like a fairly easy job, is there anything I should be concerned with before I tackle that?

If this is the first time that the valve covers are being replaced. You might run into a problem with the PCV hose on them. They get hard over time and some times just easier to cut them off and replace. Also be careful, One of the hoses on each cover is connected to a plastic pipe that runs under the intake and can break too. Other than that, it's pretty easy to do the gaskets. Have fun :-D

Make sure you replace the spark plug o ring seals too. Wait, the might only be for the DOHC motors. I can't remember.
