hey guys i just recently bought Kelly's old legacy radioflyer (can be seen in build journals)... i just noticed that someone hammered in the smaller pipe on the divorced DP so it could clear the firewall... i was told thats definately the reason for my turbo lag which is definately understandable. Now should i just take it to an exhaust shop and have them cut it and make a custom pipe to make it fit.. or just get a new DP and hammer in the firewall itself?

I'm assuming this is a divorced DP with separate pipe for wastegate gasses?
How much hammering in of the piping is done? Can you get a picture?

If you have to, just throw a cheap bellmouth on there.

sorry, yes it is a divorce DP. I will take a pic tomorrow. Its hammered in pretty badly tho.. i would say its only getting about half the flow it would if it werent hammered in.

sorry, been a little busy to get the picture... but as i said its only getting about half the flow it should... i think my step dad and i are going to take it off and cut that part out and weld in a piece that will work... does that sound safe/reasonable?

if i'm reading your post correctly slight restriction on a seperate wasgate dump tube will not cause turbo lag. nothings flowing in that tube till your wastegate opens, which is when your boosting at your set level

weld it properly or it will crack.
let's see a pic.
i'm curious to see whu it would even come close to the firewall?

Yeah, I agree with subaru_styles on this. The wastegate dump tube being hammered in isn't going to cause turbo lag at all.

X3...this is an anti lag situation not lag causing.

In fact, it might even cause boost creep.

What were saying is that it may cause overboosting if anything which - yes is bad.The problem with lag that you are experiencing is being caused by something else I.E. you have at least 2 problems at this point.
i was told thats definately the reason for my turbo lag which is definately understandable
And who was this?

What turbo are you running? If its Kelly's old car, it might just have a decently sized turbo on there that has a little more lag than most turbos.
