I'm swapping out the (1991)EJ22T in my 1988 VW Van for an (1991)N/A EJ22 .
From what I understand the harness will work except for having to switch around the cam and crank sensor wiring and obviously not using the turbo related components and wires off the ECU for those.
Just want to make sure I'm on the right track.
Any suggestions or comments?
thanks in advance

Yes the main engine harness connectors will be different. All you need to do is lengthen the coolant temp sensor wires.

I got the conversion up and running yesterday. Only things I had to do to use the N/A engine was:
---swap the wiring for both the cam sensor and crank sensor
---use the N/A MAF
---use the N/A ECU
---plug the turbo harness into the N/A engine harness
Everything else was fine. The engine plugs were the same.
I re-used the main Turbo harness connected to the N/A engine harness.I kept all the wiring for the turbo sensors etc in the loom but obviously they aren't hooked up.
Bringing it to my Subie guy with the dealer scan set-up and off to the emmission test (Aircare here in BC)
FYI: THE EJ22t is now up for sale. Is has a bottom end knock but other wise is basically complete, except for the missing cam, crank, and knock sensors.
