Will my ride height change 05 wrx strut to ver5 sti strut?

Post by stef1825 »

Hi, Right now I have 05 wrx struts with h & r springs (legacy version).
I just bought these http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=39754 STI Ver5 struts.

My question is : Will my height height change ?

And if I was to go and buy new springs, what would you guys consider my best bet ? (with link to order page if possible ;))

I hope you have read at least this and this

I am not one of them. I think they are tired, we tend to ask bad questions. I can empathize with your situation, it is hard to know the result of one of thousands of combinations, yet you'd like to know before you buy something. I think I drove at least one member crazy when I was shopping for suspension, I kept asking the same questions over and over, not realizing that they were the same.

When I read this

in addition to your poll Q, I hear, 'does anyone know what this particular combination will be like in terms of height and streetability?'.

Since you haven't mentioned any particular use of the car, ie drag, or rally or auto-x, we will just assume that when you ask if they are 'good' you mean for daily driving.

Unfortunately, those particular struts aren't that common, even on this board, since they are from Japan. So the odds of someone having combined them with H&R Legacy springs is low. To really know you'll have to try. Or, maybe, you could measure the length between the perch and seat and if both struts are the same you could assume that the springs will compress to the same static height. But on that I am just guessing.

Really?

Here The gymkhana or pinks will match the ver V struts perfect. You want the 93-01 Impreza (GC) ones

Don't worry I read it all a couple of times ... (I am not joking)

I plan on using it for Daily driving and auto-x events; but for fun, I am not planning on winning the events.

I was looking in Ground control springs, as recommended by user jamal, but are they gonna be any good with my struts ?? and how do they compare to jdm pinks ?

I guess I'll just have to try, but I don't have too much money to spend on trying stuff ... :s

I might just stick with the H&R springs I have :)

are you doing your own work?

if so then the least expensive thing to do would be try out what you have and see if you like it

then you'll be able to better assess what differences you want (height, rate, etc), if in fact you feel you want something different

but if it is going to cost you cash to get the new stuff swapped in, I can definitely see how that would add to your dilemma. no sense in doing things over and over again

I have never used Ground Control or anything else aftermarket so I can't compare for you

the pink springs on those struts are really really 'good'
