Were those inserts or something? How did you do that? How is the light output after doing that?

stuck them in the oven @ 170 for about 10 min., pulled them apart. then dismounted the housing from the lens, painted and reassembled. went back in the oven for a short bit to try to flow the glue a little for a good seal.

oh yeah, light output is still the same I think. the low beam is a projector, so it doesn't rely on the housing for output, and the high beam has its own reflecting "bowl" that it sits in.

 I checked last night, and the output still looks the same to me. normal low beam, and stupid-bright highs. basically what i did to these headlights is make a homemade version of the 2005 style headlights.

Sweet. Looks badass. I did the oven trick on my tail lights for my 90 NA wagon and the first set I accidently melted. My oven's lowest setting was 200 or 250. The second set I timed better and no meltage. It was to remove the ugly yellow lens in the tail lights of the wagons.

I like!

And to anyone else who wants to ask, like noyst said, he hasn't painted anything that will affect the light output. The newer Legacys have projectors, not reflectors.

I don't know. I was unsure of what to say for that. Maybe I should have said.......so I put black contacts in today. :P

Hmm, should we start a thread that compares car parts to human parts? Any who, eye liner would be like angel eyes but with paint, eye shadow is what you did, and contacts is if you buy that tinted plastic crap that you put over the lights.........Hmmmm To tell you the truth I think you performed LASIK on the light assemble and changed the cornea color? Sorry, I'm rambling...... The lights look freaking awsome XD :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

sheesh......see what I started. lol

so, I also didn't like the look of the low beam filaments when I had the lights apart, so I took a risk on some silverstar ultras. before, and after:

Pics don't really do light output justice.
Perhaps "I got two black eyes" would've been more accurate :P ?
