Injector #2.....i Think its Electrical!!!!

Post by ChickN »

well ive done the whole tune up deal and i cant get this thing to run right....it seems like cyl 2 is not firing....or not firing well.

first i switched injectors maybe seeing if it was the injectors...not the problem as the issue was on the same cylinder.

so today i called in sick and am gunna see if i cant track down where the electrical issue is....any suggestions!!!

also when i unplugged the connector on the problematic cylinder...nothing happened except it continued to run like crap....but when i unplugged a known good running cylinder, it ran even worse! so that leaves me to believe that somewhere in the connection, there is an issue! please help! need to get back to work!!!

First thing would be to check that there is 12v at one of the pins of the injector. If so, then check for continuity all the way from the injector wire connector to the ECU.

Check for a cracked spark plug insulator on cyl. #2 as well...Trust me, that can do it.

You're checking for voltage, not current. You will have a constant 12v on one of the injector leads. The other goes to the ECU.

It should either read 12v (or whatever the battery voltage is) or it's not going to read anything.

Remember, only ONE of the pins is the 12v source. The other goes to the ECU, and will not have any voltage readings on it.

Put a finger on the injector and see if you can feel it click. Perhaps put a screwdriver from the injector to your ear and compare the suspect with a good one too. If it clicks it's probably not your problem. Have you checked your compressions?
