Gauge Mounting Locations

I've moved my radio down to where the flip open tray was and am going to place the gauges where the radio was by either making a plate out of plexiglass or sheetmetal painted black. I'll get some pics once I get it done. Where do you guys have yours mounted????

I put gauges there too. I didn't even bother with proper mounting -- I just used black foam (packing material from a Dell computer, I think) and cut it into roughly the right shape, with some oversize, and wedged it in there.

It actually looked fine. Not nearly as bad as it sounds.

Boost gauge is mounted on the steering wheel column, which lines up exactly in the middle of the tach. AFR gauge is currently temp mounted above the left center air vent.

I threw my boost, A/F, and oil pressure gauges in an old WRX A-pillar pod and trimmed it to fit. Not exactly "concours", but really easy to see. :smt104

This was "temporary" but so far is going on over a year...I used a piece of chain link fence and bent it into place under the ashtray. This way I didn't drill or remove anything on the car, just in case I wanted to get rid or it, or move it. It's tilted up so it is pretty visible while driving. It isn't very obvious and pretty stealth looking. Which is why I chose the location. Can't open the ashtray, but I don't smoke anyways.

I have also disabled my ashtray, I cut out the front/bottom and added a plastic sheet that holds two flush-mounted gauges. So it looks like that ^, but on the ashtray and without a bracket.

I located 3 in the A-pillar, using a "one-size-fits-all" mount from GlowShift that I trimmed to fit. I found some paint at the local hardware store that was a PERFECT match to the gray dash color, so it actually looks OEM from the outside.

Now I need to mount the wideband, probably will go down where the ashtray used to be.

I've done just about what you are planing for my wide band O2. Used a sheet metal plate painted black, then brushed it with steel wool to better match the plastic. I also flipped my 1/2 din pocket and mounted it where the ash tray was. It works fine there but I'm not sure I really like the look of it. The whole setup looks a little to aftermarket for my taste, at some point I figure I'll rework it and add a second gauge mount.

BTW, my boost gauge in built into my cluster with an oil pressure and volt gauge.

There is plenty of air coming out of the driver's side vent and the left side passenger to be cool.
