I'm looking to take away the inline 4 sound in my legacy, and here is my project:

Stock manifold setup-
Image

Note somewhat equal length. it equals crap sound!! So here is my solution:
EJ20K (JDM Ver.4 STi) Turbo manifold. I am in the process of modding it to fit. cleaning up whatever casting flash I can, and chopped the heat shield "tits" off the left, and right section. I disassembled everything, blasted the left, and center flex section, and white satin ceramic coated, then reassembled them w/ high temp black on center section. I will be making a jig to get the right angle for the stock manifold, and then hacking the turbo one to change it's angle to be a bolt up affair. here are the progress pics. will update as I progress more.

Sweet. So basically you are going for the boxer rumble in an N/A? Very cool. I look forward to a sound bite!

so, here is the beginnings of the jig for the equal length crap. I really need some time with this. I should have been done. :(

This is pretty cool. One question, how do you keep the cast from cracking when you weld it? Even heat with oxy/acet while you run smallish 'spot' beads with the mig? I've always had bad luck trying to attach things to cast, but according to my old man, that was because I did not set up a few torches to keep the work evenly heated while welding.

just gotta heat it first, and when done, take the heat away gradually.

Ah, OK, cool. Do you get it cherry right before hand? Thanks!

almost molten. its best to use a rod, and weld iron to iron, but I don't have that luxury. we'll see how she comes out. I'm gonna try a test weld on some iron I cut off first, and if that doesnt work, i'll have it done at a shop that specializes in that kind of stuff.
