Replacement carpeting?
Has anyone ever replaced the carpet in their first-gen Legacy? I'm looking to replace mine and I can't seem to find a supplier anywhere. Any ideas?

Get the Impreza carpet. Your choice of colors and plushness. Don't worry about the 2-door application, the floorpans are identical.
The only part that is not the same as our cars is the little flaps of carpet that are on both sides of the rear seat bottom, and you will have plenty of material left over to make those flaps when you cut out the holes for the shifter console.
It's molded to the basic tub-and-center hump shape, but don't expect a factory fit, you need to do some trimming and cutting of holes. I got the plush nap black, and it's very high quality carpet. It's a little work, but SO worth it... my interior looks brand new now, after ditching the clapped-out rag that was the old carpet.
This is the flap you have to make, just glue it in place...

Yes, the wagon floorpan is the same. You can order extra carpet for the rear too, by the yard.
Thanks, it was a long process. WRX seats w/ an Ebay leather kit. I finally got everything done in black last year.
I have a 22B wheel on it now, the red-stitch hat trick (wheel, shifter, and e-brake handle)

Yeah, I used VHT interior paint/dye on the dash, and most of the other parts, whether black or grey, just to get everything looking the same. Great stuff. The door cards are out of a black Touring Wagon I found in a junkyard... the only true black interior I've seen on these cars, everything else is a really dark grey.
If the SVX seats don't work out, keep an eye on Ebay for surplus leather kits, I got one recently for $90 I put into a LS wagon... Subaru interiors are much like the chassis; very similar, and usually interchangeable with a little work. The kit I got was for a Forester, and the rear seat bottom took a bit of re-engineering, but everything else fit pretty well.
Original;

After;

I just had to find a set of Forester headrests.

I still have these seats, they're semi-spoken for, not sure if the guy's going to buy them... If the deal doesn't go thru, would you be interested?

Those are great looking seats! I'd normally be all over 'em, but unfortunately they're lacking the rear seat headrests that my wife insists on for our two kids. It was nice coming home with the SVX seats and being able to say "you did insist on headrests, dear..." Thanks for the vinyl coloring info too. I'm hoping to be able to switch seat brackets, but they already look pretty similar. If not, I may be putting my machinist father to work...
