Rear Diff question

I searched for a half an hour so don't flame me.

I have all 4 wheels off the ground.

When I spin 1 of the rear wheels the axle shaft spins with the wheel and the other wheel does not move at all.

When I switch to the other side it does the same thing.

Is this normal? I figured I'd ask while I had the car off the ground.

I remember on my old wagon that when turning one rear wheel the other would turn in the oposite direction, like the front diff.

Thanks

mine kinda does the same thing. If you rotate the one side it will slowly move the other, but doing the other side doesn't move that side..

yeah thats normal the movement will take the path of least resistance just like electricity
if you hold the driveshaft keeping it from spinning and spin one rear wheel the other side will go the opposite way.

It's normal. You have an open differential.
