N/A Phase I 5MT power limits?

Post by tturnpaw »

Ok i dont mean the typical turbo 5mt from japan or what our turbo legacys came with.

Im talking about the N/A phase one 5 speeds. What kind of power (or tq really) can they hold before they go kaput?

No launches, just driving. Obviously boosting otherwise this question would be already answered.

Search please. Besides the clutch, they're more or less the same transmission.

It all depends on the driver. Some people can't handle driving on stock WRX power. Others can drive with 300+ whp for years.

the normal legacy 4.11 5-speeds are pretty fragile. i have made the one in my touring wagon last for a while, but i was putting in a transmission every 3-6t months when i had my 5speed svx.
92 SVX LSL tour- 5spd swap baby
92 turbo touring wagon now also 5-speed swapped
