WRX 4EAT
Some 5MT outback limiteds (not the 90s ones?)
2.5RS 5MT from 2000 (maybe 2001)
Bunch of others, differing by year.
Read that new 2008+ Subarus don't have LSD with the exception of the STI.

Outbacks with the "cold weather package" came with LSD standard. 2000+impreza_GC8 wrote:^ Pretty sure none of the Outbacks had the LSD rear. None that I've seen anyway. A rear end from a 5MT 2000 or 2001 2.5RS will def work.
Or limited models.

Correct-a-mundo, no USDM Subarus had LSD from 1995-1999. (the SVX may be the exception)impreza_GC8 wrote:Ah but only the 2000+ models though?

Link?
ciper wrote:All of these suggestions are fine,,, if you had a newer generation car. I assume you have a 90-94 Legacy and if so none of the suggestions will work without swapping axles.
The "easy" way is to mix the parts from a Legacy turbo 3.9 differential and your existing 4.11 open differential.
Im sure someone will post the reason but our rear differentials are male and our axles female. The newer r160 are opposite. You can take pretty much any R160 and convert it to the other axle style by swapping in the carrier. I've never tried it but the SVX might also have a male differential LSD.
The carrier is the part that has the spider gears,,, and is also the part with the LSD inside of it. Just two nights ago I swapped parts between a 91 legacy male 3.9 differential with a 98 Outback female 4.44 differential.
Now if you have junkyards near by I'm sure you could find a female axle Subaru and those should work with any normal newstyle LSD you find. Be warned that SVX and my02 WRX LSD are actually a 3.54:1 and not 3.9:1

I used a Legacy turbo LSD and fitted it to my 4.11 crown wheel and pinion. I measured everthing and took my time to do the swap. That 6000miles and 10 rallies ago!
Cheers

you can contact preracing.com. They can get you an lsd r160 (female) with any ratio you want I think. I did that for my ver.4 JDM STi RA trans swap that had a 4.44 fr.
kind of pricey though. I paid $500.00 shipped for mine, but it was the only 4.44 lsd unit i could find that wasn't in japan.
