Are you trying to turbo the engine you have or build another engine? Theres all sorts of conversions to do, you just need to pick which one. Price and availability will effect your decision.

Technically, no; the blocks are different. 22T is closed-deck, regular 22 is open-deck. You CAN put the turbocharger, intake, exhaust, etc. from a 22T onto your EJ22 longblock and have it work with the turbo ECU after a few wiring modifications. You'll also need a turbo front crossmember.

You're probably in the best place to find parts for that conversion right here, just post ads for what you need.

You probably could talk the folks at http://www.xcceleration.com/engine-pack ... gines.html into converting your block.

Does anyone really pay $700 for Cometic head gaskets?! Expensive long blocks without any indication about possible outputs (which could probably still be beaten by a turbo EG33 on a reasonable budget) and they're still too damn cheap to pay up, at most, the couple hundred dollar shipping charges. And people apparently pay this. Wow. "But, dude, it, like, goes fast!" So does a bicycle with a rocket strapped on. I think I become less of a "car guy" by the day. Like bestiality, it's something I will never understand nor do I want to.

I only spent about 600 to get it. You can also add the tow bill to pick up the subaru and the truck we used to get it. The transmissions on our truck went out about 2 hours away from my house. Which sucked. Is it possible to use a ej20 block and bore it out to a 2.2. I want to stay single cam for sure but just trying to see my options.

Someone here turboed an N/A with stock compression ratio and has had no problems, plus has better bottom end (and mileage, I imagine). You could do all that with used parts you could probably get dirt cheap as takeoffs from people on here who have upgraded or have extras from junked parts cars. Honestly, if I had known I was going to build my own car and scale back my plans for Duchess, this is what I would do. You can also swap in the turbo pistons if you want them, but if you're going that far, you might as well think about custom pistons and be prepared for more extensive performance down the line. The only thing you'll need to do worry about when bolting on all the turbo gear as far as fitting goes, is the exhaust. You'll have to either make a custom head pipe, modify the crossmember, or get a turbo crossmember for the uppipe to clear.

Junk turbo cars as donors pop up all the time, especially in your area of the country, which is the easiest way if you want to change the block. Probably be cheaper than buying just the engine, too, and you get the ECU, top end, and crossmember to match.

Someone else can answer about boring out an EJ20, but the EJ22 is a cheaper solution and I don't see why you'd want to make an EJ20 SOHC other than the interference issue, but then, you might as well just stick with the cheap and available EJ22.

I was just seeing if it was actually possible to bore a ej20 to a ej22. Does anyone have the cylinder bore maximum measurement for a ej20 and does anyone know if the ej20s are closed or open deck. Im not clear upon this open deck of the block but i take it i would need a opened head?? Thanks. This site is awesome

Most are open, some older ones are closed. There are threads about it and even a wikepedia page that goes through all the versions of the EJ engine. Heads don't care about the block decking.
