air bag screw/bolt wrench

Post by kleinkid »

The bolts that secure the airbag to the streeing wheel frame use some kind of allen wrench socket type thing, kind of like a torx but has a hole for a little nipple on the bolt. What do you call those things, and do you know the size?

They're torx security bits or something like that. Not sure the size on them though.

Did find in the service manual that they are T-30 security.

I have a standard torx socket but it doesn't have the hole in the center for the nipple. So the torx security must be another kind of torx.

Yes you can get security bits at most places that sell tools or parts.I have actually found that in some torx sets they have the hole and arent even labeled a security bits, thats how i got mine but cant remember the brand.

You can get the whole set of tamper proof torx at Sears made by Lisle for around $30.

The little Sears place here didn't have anything. So went to Autozone and got what I needed. T-30 tamper proof.

The steering wheel on the '94 ABP SS is not in good shape. I have a wheel off of a '95 wagon to put on.

Had the stock steering wheel on my '91 SS recovered by
