I found a post that explained where the sensor for the temp gauge was located, but I couldn't find it on the car. I have a 1994 Touring wagon. When I took it to a mechanic to change the oil pan gasket, I asked him to take a look. I replaced the plastic coolant tank with one from a wrx, and I believe that I just knocked the wire loose.
The write up said it was on the passenger side, near the intake. But when I had a look around afterwards, I thought it was right next to where the plastic coolant tank/knock sensor is.
I am just trying to locate this for the future, and the shady mechanic said he replaced the sensor, and it appears that he didn't (if I am looking at the right part).

On the turbo cars it's on the driver's side of the coolant crossover just around the plastic tank. There's two sensors, brown connector one goes to the ECU, and the 1-wire sensor goes to the dash.
