Spare tire question

Post by SiCkSTi04 »

MY SS came with a full steel spare which i don't care to have in my trunk. local junkyards only carry N/A spare tires and i know the SS has a bigger front brake system, so are the spare tires between N/A and SS the same? wondering if Subaru carried two different spare tire rim sizes or just left it at one which could fit both.

It might be bigger. The stock SS wheels are 15" and the stock NA wheels are 14". I don't think I have a spare in my car.

Unless you use the plastic box in the trunk, I recommend taking it out and putting in a full size spare. You can get a steel rm at a JY and a used tire for pretty cheap, and you have a very useable spare ( unlike the toy spares)

No you can't have one

You still may be able to fit a larger spare in there. I would measure and see.
You could always look for an 04 STI spare.

Unless you move to a larger overall diameter for your wheel/tire combo, you should be able to fit a skinny with a big enough diameter wheel without a problem. In the case of actually having a larger diameter tire, the spare tire well is larger than it needs to be and I would guess could easily fit an extra inch diameter.

A shame you live in Florida, I'd trade you my spare.

So does anyone have the rim sizes from both a N/A and SS?

I don't know about the spares but the brakes barely fit under the 15" wheels so I'm fairly certain an NA spare won't fit, but since I don't have a 14" spare I can't tell you with 100% certainty

A WRX spare would also do fine. Nasioc was full of '02-'05 spares when I was looking for an '06/07 spare to clear the 4-pots.

Yea, as long as the tire size isn't any bigger(so it still fits in the trunk) I don't see why a 16" wheel wouldn't work

The spare for the 02-05 WRX fits in the trunk. I've got one since I upgraded the front and rear brakes.
