Yeah, the covers are terrible. I mounted polycarbonate over the lens and cut out the center of the covers to use as a frame to hold the shield on and the tabs all ended up coming off even without removing them. The plastic seems extra inflexible in cold and may be biodegradable considering how they seem to crumble apart.
