clunking sound from one of the front wheels in low speed

Post by keelhaul »

when im rolling in 30 mph or lower, i hear a clunking sound from my right front wheel, and the steering wheel can shake a bit. the guy i bought it from said it was a very tired wheel bearing there. but doesnt wheel bearings make a rumble sound when they are going out? its not the same sound as my

he also said the wheels may need some rebalancing, can that make the sound? when im driving in high speeds, i cant hear the clunking, and my steering wheel isnt shaking. only on low speeds. its perfect to drive on the highway.

its not the same sound as a tired joint c.v(?) on my other legacy

edit: changed the thread name

i had the same steering wheel shaking till my right front c.v. axle broke, the outer c.v. joint was bad and it just broke) it could be a wheel bearing, if you think it is the wheel bearing, jack the right front corner up till the tire is off the ground, grab the top and bottom of the tire, and push towards the left side with the hand on the top and pull towards you with the hand on the bottom, if there is any play/ slop the wheel bearing is bad
