Throwout Bearing Clip(s)?

Post by DrinkItDown »

I am currently in the process of putting my EJ22T/EJ25 hybrid back in my Impreza, but I seem to have run in to a snag. I can't get a straight answer out of anyone about if there are any clips that hold the throwout bearing to the clutch arm. The reason why I am asking here is that the clutch kit is the same part number for both my car and the Legacy SS (cable transmission).

So, does anyone know if there are clips that hold the throwout bearing to the clutch arm?

Your Impreza has a nonturbo cable-clutch transmission right?

If so, then yes, there are clips that hold the throwout bearing to the clutch fork. The Subaru part number is 30539AA000.

I lost one of the clips so I bent up a paper clip to match the clip. It's held for two years of hard abuse so far! I actually just pulled the motor out of that car last night and nobody could tell which clip was the real one!

Sorry no pics. I just installed a different motor tonight, although it'll probably be temporary cuz I'm thinking about throwing a bunch of stock turbo parts on for some winter fun!

I just dropped the tranny out of my 93 n/a wagon. I had the saaaaame issue. Last time I tore it apart One of the clips was there, and the other not. I snagged the clip out of a newer throwout bearing box (courtesy of NAPA) and returned the bearing clipless... noone noticed the missing clip. SHHHHH!!! lol Ill post pictures when i get the factory Subaru throwout and clips.
