Brake Improvements ??

Post by Penty »

As I said I have installed new front discs into my Scooby turbo, Pagid pads and discs which are vented only no groovy grooves or holes in them.

To be honest they feel a bit naff they have no real feel to them and don't inspire any confidence as a result, I havn't driven super super hard in the car yet but that will be my last test, maybe this is where they will shine through ?

If anybody has some good tips on how to improve my scoobys braking please help!!! maybe braided hoses ? or maybe this is what Legacys are like ?

Sorry I havn'y been posting recently I've been super busy at work and you guys sure can post alot of posts it's hard to keep up let alone post my own :)

Braided brake lines from Primitive Racing help out. Also maybe you should
check your fluid. That might need flushing. I use ATE Super Blue fluid;
that's good stuff.

These Pagid discs are vented and that's it? How are they different from your
stock discs? Maybe you got ripped off. =(

Rod-

Those crossdrilled rotors of yours will warp in under a year. Guarenteed.
You should try with a powerslotted rotor instead.

Brake Improvements ??

Post by Josh Colombo »

I will second that!!! You will warp the cross-drilleds in no time flat.....Mine were on for a little over a year...but that was most likely because I didn't drive my car much my first two years of school.

Jason, Where can I get power stops?

well.. Powerslot.com is the quickest lead, but they don't make anything for
subaru (yet). If you have rims that are 16" or more, you can always upgrade
to the big brake kit that subaruparts.com has with 4 pot calipers.

HEHE.. Yeah. i'm okay. No real problems. When i got home after work, some of
my books had slid about an inch on my book. No real problems. My boss
freaked out big time though.. She was crying and screaming and everything.

Amazingly enough, between all the falling buildings in Seattle and the
falling bridges in Olympia, Tacoma went nearly unscathed. Hmm..

Thanks for the replies & advice about cross-drilled rotors. I`ve been
checking this info out for about 6 mos. & have noticed many high-dollar cars
(Porsche, Saleen, Jaguar + Brembo) have been using/selling these rotors for
very high speed cars with no reported problems. Also, I`ve been guaranteed
that the ones I`ve ordered will outlast my standard rotors 2 to 1 (guarantee
includes replacement at no additional cost). I`ll keep everyone informed as
to the progress of my particular brake upgrade.--ROD (No. Az.)

Different cars with much different specs allow for different brakes.

Hey, if you have a gurarantee, then go for it! I'd love to have some
guaranteed rotors. But read the fine print carefully, it may say "guaranteed
under NORMAL driving conditions, not for race use."

Good luck, let us know!
