WE just had the ignition switch replaced a few month back to fix this same problem and now we the solenoid is sticking again still . Saw a fix on here to get the key out and that work but it is not doing every time after and it hard to hit just the right spot to push the spring back each time and my wife has yet to master it meaning we can't just go off on our own..
Is there way to put something to block the pen that is being lock into the key from moving?
I do plan on going back to shop on Monday on this .. we have one car and its not fun locking the car up with a towel over the wheel to hid that key is still in the ignition . Not a save thing this time of year ..
I had them take out the alarm system a wile back as also the ignition will not start it will click and if i do it rapidly it then starts and the starter has been check and cleaned..so i still thinking there is something more going on in the electrical..
I pressed the manual release for the Shifter as well and I heard the click of the interlock solenoid release the key but it did not do this the next time we stopped .. need wider flat head screw driver if I going to keep having to do this poking at the release spring for the interlock solenoid.. also there is something there that look orange like a wire or almost like diode or something .. could some thing have fell into the area when they were working on it and caused this to jam up? Will try to get picture of it ..
Ok any Ideas on doing full or temp fix for this interlock solenoid would be nice..
Thanks
CC
update
Shop can't see me till Wed and they think it could be the selector or it could something in the steering interlock.. So now my wife is very unhappy as she can go out with out me .. as so far it has only stuck for me once and her nearly every time. .

Well I figure a patch for now..I put some electrical tapes up in the area where the locking solenoid is on the ignition and it is keeps it from locking up for now. I need to wait for some funds to take it to the shop.Legacy777 wrote:Did you end up getting this figured out?
Talking to the Shop it ether in the shifter sensor or in the ignition switch.. but they just replaced that a wile back. I'll know more as soon as i can get to the shop...
Was going to take it in when this started but they got backed up and i wasn't going to leave it as last time it took them week or more to get the work done as they had to wait on parts...
Other than the dealership they one the busiest Subaru shops and they do great work and not lot high cost..
Thank for checking
