To best answer your question, it would be good to know your goals, and any other mods you have. I am guessing you already have a TD05-16G?

I guess I will start looking for a 16g or a big 16g. found out a 20g might be pretty laggy with this engine

Not all EJ20's have/had the same turbo.
I'd suggest you see what you have on there now, as the 16G came on the WRX-STi from approx. '93-'96 when they used the 90° inlet - before they changed to the 'inlet under manifold' setup. It could also be a VF-series turbo, but bigger than the US VF11, of course.
Also, unless you plan on getting a tune (recommended @ 17-18 psi anyway), any bigger turbo will most likely have more lag....it's the nature of the beast.

Damn that thing is pricey! Sweet though. When I eventually buy my version 2 at the end of the year, I am going to do a full build on it. That will definitely be a consideration for the turbo I use. I want to aim for 450 HP. Right now its my daily driver and just looking to pep it up a bit more without spending a crap ton of cash
