Ice Racing Video...

Post by 92 Rally »

Quick video I threw together from the first ice race of the year. This was our first event on Studded Tires and it will not be the last! More better video to come in a few weeks if the race doesn't get canceled.

Very well done!! What kind of studded tire do you have? Just regular street studded tires or full on rally spec studded tires?

Awesome job! You can definately tell you have much better control with the studs! Good work!

They are homemade studded tires that we made out of some used BFG's.

The traction that you get out of these is amazing in comparison to plain ol winter/ice tires. We are limited to 170 studs a tire and we have yet to put that many in each tire. Before this next race though we will be adding more studs, especially in the rear of the car. The next race is in two weeks and its a day/night event on a mile long track on Dollar Lake in Eagle, Wisconsin. It is going to be a blast! If all goes well we should be putting together a pretty good video with some different angles. I am hoping that the HID light bar will be enough to see in the dark...

Mind if I ask how exactly you mounted the studs to the tires? Pics are a little blurry to tell.

Wow man! That was soooo cool. I would LOVE if we had something like that around here. What kind of BOV on the car? What mods? Also, for your next video, you should leave the music off, or at least turn it way down. I for one would rather hear the motor/bov. :D In any case, nice job, and looking forward to more.

Thanks for the quick reply, came back to post that I found the info I needed in your thread on the other forum lol. That is a pretty sweet setup.

The UEL header looks very good as well. Part #/ engine model that was meant for? :D

That is a HKS SSQV. As for mods.... Man we have done so much to this thing! Not to much in means of Go Fast parts. tdo4, tmic, intake, exhaust, UEL Header... MBC is coming this week.

As for the music, we don't have quality mics. There is a LOT of background noise (rattling, crap hitting the floor pans, ect). I love the sounds of these cars as much as anyone else but it just doesn't always translate well into video.

I got that from a friend that was throwing it away. I believe it was a one piece header/up pipe combo that he bought on ebay. The flex section ripped on it and he bought a new one. So I got it and fixed it! It was off of his 2006 WRX (2.5l)

Just a heads up, we do have a "Build" thread on this site. I suck at updating it though. FaceBook is where its at!
