Really fed up with the selection of parts for my legacy...

Post by bussaca2@aol.com »

Is it me.. or if you live outside japan you get crap...

*sigh* I look at all the japanese web pages with all the twin turbo legacys.
and all the little things we apparently can't get...

ok.. i've seen 2 (so far) 91 Subaru legacys with projector head lamps.. not
quad ( i saw those too..) why can't MRT,Possom Borne, Subie Sport, JCSports
find these parts/manufactures and be distributers.. Now if these are STOCK
Subaru parts in Japan.. you'd think the above mentioned companys would eat
those up.. or at least advertise they could get such parts.. But i guess the
9 years before Imprezza came out were forgoten...

There is a bumper it seems stock, again i can't tell but i've seen it mounted
on 5 diferant twin turbos so it can't be random... It has groves and mounts
for 2 lamps in the main air dam.. url:
http://homepage1.nifty.com/tksp/legacy/history/bg5c.jpg
http://homepage1.nifty.com/tksp/legacy/ ... d_alfa.jpg

whats the part number? I want one!!!!

I keep seeing "Eye brows" and "nose brows" on a couple others who makes
these???
url:

These are the little things that are kinda getting me miffed...
Why is it where ever i go.. i get " will also fit Legacy.." What happened to
all the legacy parts.. As far as i know the legacy came first...

Also as far as i can remeber (correct me if i'm wrong) the legacy especialy
the BC-BF legacys have a cult following and are quite sought after if can be
obtained.. i would think this would create a demand for such performance
parts...but for some reason we can't break thru to the japan market..and
obtain such parts..

Sorry about the rant... but i'm getting discuraged.. on a second note.. i am
working on makeing my OWN quad headlamp set.. as soon as i finsh a mold i
will see how much the fiberglass will cost and the projector lamps..

Any help and or wireing diagrams for the front end will help.. I'm also going
to see how much the individual BMW projector lamps cost..

I know exactly what you mean and feel the same way sometimes. Where can we get Liberty/Legacy parts? Does anyone know anything about the specs of the car?

Really fed up with the selection of parts for my legacy...

Post by Dave C »

I was flipping through the HyperRev Legacy #2 and i pretty much had
to put it down after a few minutes because of all the stuff i wanted
but pretty much had no chance of ever getting.

The problem isn't that the parts don't exist, it's that those small
companies making the parts have no reason to market them outside of
Japan, especially when that would mean having to support non-japanese
speakers/readers as well as all of the currency issues and shipping.

It's not hard to understand why they don't, you just have to know why.

I empathise with you. What you have to remember, is that "Japan is for the
Japanese"... very few Japanese company's export...
- as the Japanese language is too hard to translate into English, and other
Asian / European languages
- their currency is so strong that their prices are high
- and they have a home market of 150 million people that do not give them
this grief

...so they stay at home!

Try visiting the place... pretty much the only signs that are dual language
Japanese / English are the large motorway signs. Hardly an English word can
be seen in the largest of main streets, shops, etc...

Really fed up with the selection of parts for my legacy...

Post by Shariff@LightningEliminat »

John, I disagree with you, unless you visited only the small towns
and villages. All the Bus and Train stations are in English too
(actually their version - romaji) and the tollways and most streets
too. Unlike here in the US though, many of the streets don't have
names. Most chain restaurants have english menu (may not be correct)
if you ask and english words can be seen everywhere (whether its
misused or not like the Japanese/Chinese characters on T-shirts,
cartoons and baseball caps).

As for items for the BC-BF models, it rare to get them now in Japan
too (body kits). Also, the market here is too small for a company to
set-up shop here.

Most of the Subaru shops here can order the stuff you may be
interested in. However with shipping costs and currency exchange
rate, the prices are ridiculous at times. Also, most companies will
require a non refundable deposit.

Shariff (FYI I grew up in Japan)
