Odd things I've accomplished in the last 7 days.......

Post by Binford »

1. Drifted a full-size school bus that I lived in last summer

2. Jumped a lowered forester that I got for free

3. Drove my lifted 4WD truck in FRONT wheel drive mode to the scrapyard ~35 miles

4. Got $300 for said truck in scrap weight. I bought it for $250 two years ago....

5. Accidentally stole a car alarm

6. Got a '90 LS back that I've sold twice already. Interestingly, I've had 5 different engines in this car in the last 2-3 years. I've named them: smokey motor, turbo'd motor, tired motor, black Turbo motor(EJ22T), & current motor.

7. Made this post using "stolen" wi-fi. Thanks neighbor!

Odd things I found in last 7 numbered items I read:
1. You lived in a school bus

2. A lowered Forester was free

3. After reading your list, you have a neighbor close enough to pick up wifi from.

Here is the only pic I've got of my bus. This was the day I bought it off CL for $1000. 7.3 diesel, Allison automatic with brand new rear tires.

I've since added solar panals on the roof, window screens on the back side windows, along with kitchen appliances & 30amp RV plug out of a pop-up camper. I've also aquired a bunch of other parts including a new 45 gallon fresh water tank, a used grey water tank, RV toilet, three RV batteries and a big-ass inverter with remote control on/off switch.

This raises two questions in my mind:

1) How does one acquire a forester for free?

2) How does one get to be so awesome?

I'd love to live in a bus but I got this damn family and I just don't think they'd understand.

1) Long story! A buddy had this Forester(auto) and wanted to 5 spd swap it. He talked me into trading the 5spd and rear diff from one of my cars (450,000 miles on it!) for a '01 Yamaha Blaster. He helped me remove the parts from my car and I helped him with his swap, but he wanted to learn how do do this kind of stuff and wanted to say that he did it so I kept my assistance to a minimum. Well, apparently he never checked the gear oil and locked up a bearing on the pinion shaft. He was bummed, lost interest, and tried to sell it as-is. After like two months I mentioned I'd be willing to trade his 4-wheeler back for the whole car and he jumped at the deal!

After having no luck finding a replacement tranny, another buddy offered to give me one if I helped him part out some Legacies he had to get rid of. Score!

So, now I have a free forester that I put a free transmission in. I also put on my free 17's that I traded stock SS rims for!

2) I'm awesome? Sweet! I've always thought so...... 8)

Check out http://www.skoolie.net/forum/. I joined but I'm only a lurker there so far. LOT'S of ideas there! I moved into the bus after splitting up with my girlfriend. I was a "homeless" 30 yr old living in a school bus parked out of sight at work. I have keys to the building so I could use the bathroom if I needed, but I was really only there to sleep. I spent most of my time hanging out with my younger/also single buddies. I showered and did my laundry at my parents while they were away at work every night (they own a commercial cleaning business).

Yep, but I've moved up in life. I now live in a shop with a heated floor, floor drain, and washer/drier hookup! The bus is parked outside. :-D

#4 is most amazing to me. You're lucky to get a junk car removed for free and only if you have the title. If you drive it in, they MIGHT give you $50. And I love the irony of #5.
Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

He's the most interesting man in the world!

When it is raining, it is because he is sad.
Even his parrot's advice is insightful.
If there were an interesting gland, his would be larger than most men's entire lower intestines.
His shirts never wrinkle.
He is left-handed. And right-handed.
Even if he forgets to put postage on his mail, it gets there.
He once knew a call was a wrong number, even though the person on the other end wouldn't admit it.
You can see his charisma from space.
The police often question him, just because they find him interesting.
He once punched a magician. That's right. You heard me.
When he orders a salad, he gets the dressing right there on top of the salad, where it belongs...where there is no turning back.
If a monument was built in his honor, Mt. Rushmore would close, due to poor attendance.
It is said the sun comes up later on the 6th of May, in case his Cinco parties run long.
The Mayans prophecized his birth.
Even lucha libres remove their masks in his presence.
He once taught a German Shepard to bark in Spanish.
He serves sizzling fajita platters barehanded.
Bulls flat-out refuse to fight him.
He once buried a time capsule full of things that haven't happened yet.
He has been pronounced dead 7 times...make that 8.
His bear hugs are actually hugs he gives to bears.
He can't be bought, but his beard clippings have been know to show up on auction.
He has never lost a sock.
If he disagrees with you, it is because you are wrong.
Most songs about love are written for him, about him, or by him.
He'd never initiate a conversation about the weather, even in a typhoon.
He's against cruelty to animals, but isn't afraid to issue a stern warning.
Whatever side of the tracks he's currently on is the right side. If he crossed them, he would still be the right side.
He won the same lifetime achievement award twice.
Signs that say "This is not an exit" do not apply to him.
If he rides with you in your car, its resale value will instantly increase.
If he passed you on the street you would still feel stopped and said hello and asked you about your day.
He likes the word "fog".
If you were trapped with him in an elevator, you wouldn't want to be saved.
His business card just says, "I'll call you."
The Aztec calendar has his birthday chiseled in.
The front of his house looks like it was built by the Mayans...because it was.
His tacos refuse to fall from the shell.
If you were to see him walking chihuahua, it would still look masculine.
Dicing onions doesn't make him cry...it only makes him stronger.
He has never filled up on chips.
He has served as best man for grooms he's never met.
He strongly abides by the motto: "Safety third."
His garden maze is responsible for more missing persons than the Bermuda Triangle.
Even watching him sleep has been described as breathtaking.
He's never needed lip balm.
He went to a psychic once...to warn her.
His charm is so contagious, vaccines have been created For it.
Years ago, he built a city out of blocks. Today, over six hundred thousand people live and work there.
He is the only man to ever ace a Rorschach test.
Every time he goes for a swim, dolphins appear.
Alien abductors have asked him to probe them.
If he were to give you directions, you'd never get lost, and you'd arrive at least five minutes early.
His legend precedes him, the way lightning precedes thunder.
