So my engine has had bad crank bearing issues from when I got it 30k+ miles ago. I picked up an engine from a junk yard that was supposedly running good when it was pulled from the car. It has a 90 day warranty.
Tomorrow I'm planning to swap the oil pan and intake manifold/throttle body, injectors...the whole fuel system pretty much, over from my old engine and see if this one works.
I am planning to replace:
Thermostat
Water Pump
Timing Belt
Spark Plugs
Spark Plug Wires
Torque Converter Front Seal (may as well do it while it's out)
Rear Main Seal
Front Main Seal
I may have some more things that I cant remember, but that's what I have so far.
I'm also going to check out the crank pulley, timing gear and key while I'm installing the new water pump.
Can anyone think of anything else that needs to be done while I'm at it?

What is a timing gear? You mean the crank gear? I would think about the oil pump (depending on mileage) and idlers while you're doing all that. Also cam seals are highly recommended if yours show any signs of leaking and probably replace them even if they aren't since you've already got everything out of the way. Good idea checking that crank key out. Buy a new one when you make your parts order (I'm assuming you're using all OEM parts like you should be) just because it's so cheap. Don't want that thing stripping out after you have everything back together.
Don't forget the water pump crush gasket. I don't think it comes with the pump. While the engine is out I would put new valve cover gaskets on it and valve cover bolt seals.

I've always called it a timing gear due to the teeth on the outside. Oil pump's a good one and I'll pull the idlers off my old engine if they're in good shape. Their timing covers look like they haven't been opened before though cause none of them are broken haha
I actually pull those keys off of every Subaru I see in the junk yard so I have a few extra
and I have an extra crank pulley from an EJ22 sitting around that I can use if that one's damaged.
Mine is wobbling on my old engine so I'd prefer not to use it.
Yeah, mine came with a gasket, but I think I'm gonna use an extra sealer around it anyway.
So:
Oil pump
Cam seals
Valve cover gaskets
Water pump sealant
Idlers
Sound about right?

I think the proper term for it is actually crank sprocket but I could be wrong. Sounds good just don't forget the valve cover bolt seals. Those leak more often than the valve cover gaskets.

Yep. Found out Subaru will have to order practically every part in

Usually how it works with anything but real basic maintenance. I would think they would stock the cam seals, idlers, valve cover gaskets and that's about it.

Didnt even have the idlers or valve cover gaskets. At least not the one
near me. One 40 miles away does. The engine that I was sold had a
bad ring so I need to find another anyway. Give me a bit more time to
find all the part I'll need.
