Soooooo you guys are gonna hate me but....

Post by Mattheww044 »

I'm most likely trading my wheels and tires and $600 for a set of Tommy Kaira 18's with some good bridgestones on there and a big brake kit (with the adapter to use your stock calipers) for all 4 corners. I dunno if you guys know what the Tommy Kaira wheels are but it was a "special edition" WRX only sold in Japan and I believe there are only about 500 made... so these wheels never made it to the states unless imported. VERY rare. I didnt really like the thought of gold or 18's on my car, but they only weigh 17 lbs. each which is super light. Here is a pic of the wheels.

http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gd-wheels-t ... are-2.html

GOD I HOPE THEY FIT!!!!!!!!!

nice man. At first I really didn't like the rims up close (in pics) just because I kinda like more spokes than that, but then I saw a pic of them on his car from far away and they look flawless. I'm REALLY excited about the brakes, and the rims just keep getting me more excited the more I look at them. I'd be suprised if there were more than 10 sets of these wheels in the US. Searching around trying to find them online, I only found 2 or 3 different sets selling around $1500 and that was in 08 and before, and the big brake kits are usually at least $1k for just the fronts new, so I think I'm making a hell of a deal here.

I've been wanting to get a badass model too but they are pretty damn expensive. And I'd like to find one of an SS but no luck yet

Heres a pretty sweet one if anyone wants it:

if it was Colin McRae's car I would buy it this second :D

Sick! I'm not a huge fan of the design, but I'd rock them just because they're rare.

And Tommy Kaira is a tuner, but I'm assuming that's why you put special edition in quotes

Yea. I didnt like them at first either, but theyve already grown on me SO much. The main thing I love is that they are so rare. The chances of me ever seeing somebody with these wheels are pretty much nothing.... MAYBE MAYBE at the west coast subaru show or something but still doubtful. They do rub a little bit, but not too bad. Gonna roll my front fenders and I took out the fender liner for now... gonna put them back in and cut it up so I can cover as much as possible but not have any rubbing. Couldn't get the brake kit on today, our spindles seem to be way different than the bugeye wrx. Ill do some research but I'm probably gonna have to swap over to the bugeye spindles and calipers, and then I'll buy some willwood calipers or w/e I can find later on. Ill post a couple pics in a minute.

And yea I knew Tommy Kaira is a tuner, but for those that don't know of him "special edition" was the best thing I could think of....

what do you guys think? I really like them, and that's what really matters. But I can see most people either really liking them or thinking it looks dumb. I like being as different from everyone else as possible, so I don't have to worry about anyone else having the same wheels in my area haha

That looks amazingly good! But what makes them the best is how rare they are. I hate it when everyone has the same wheels, or copies the ones you have. Great Buy!

Haha. I live in the meth capitol of America, or so they say. I wont touch the stuff. But doesn't mean that I haven't seen people on it! I love getting new parts and accessories for my car, it's one of the greatest feelings in the world. I'm saving for a set of OB struts/springs, or Forester struts/springs. I haven't decided yet, but I know that i'm gonna be calling in sick to work when I get my hands on them because i'm not going to be able to wait to put them on. lol. Gotta love that feeling!

Yea I don't know anything about meth and I really can't understand why anyone would take it.... Hmmmm lets take all of the most dangerous things we can think of, throw it into one substance and smoke? it... (they smoke it don't they?) haha

But yea definately. I'm really excited about these wheels, and once I get the WRX spindles and calipers I can throw the big brake rotors on with the spacer for the wrx calipers. Then later on planning on getting the 06/07 WRX brakes (The red ones with "Subaru" on them) I heard they are really good brakes, and I think it would look really good on my car.

Well according to that show called "Addicted" or maybe it was called "Intervention".....I don't know, but you can do it anyway, as long as it gets into your body?? That's a lot of ways. The "Shit" as they call it, (that is what it is), is nothing but pure evil. The person that made the stuff is just one messed up kid.

Props on the work. lol. I'm just sitting here wishing I could afford to even keep up on the maintenance on my car. I do alright, but it doesn't leave me much spending/saving money for upgrades and mods. I think the only two mods i've done to my LSi so far is the Grounding Mod, and I attached a Ford emblem to my rear tow hook. It's not gonna be a Ford symbol much longer, as i'm swapping it out with a Honda emblem.

You gotta keep posting pictures on here, you guys are inspiring to people like me. lol. I have to get new brakes for my LSi, and i'm thinking about upgrading, but I don't know what I can do as far as upgrades for my brakes. Any suggestions?

Thanks man no worries. I started off in a 93 Legacy Wagon N/A was my first car that was given to me from my grandma. I absolutely loved the thing. It NEVER gave me any trouble, and I went offroading in the woods all the time with it. It took the 16 yr old fresh driving like none other. Then I got a 92 MR2, I really liked it, it just wasn't the same as a Subie. Then my last 3 cars have been SS's. So I've been in your shoes, and if it weren't for this site, I would not be where I am today. I am not loaded either, but making decent money. I really shouldn't be spending money on stuff like wheels and stuff but I had to hop on these.... Because chances are I wouldn't be able to find them if I was looking for them, but they came looking for me. And they came with Rays lug nuts which are super light, you can have 5 in your hand and literally not even be able to tell your holding anything, really nice bridgestone tires, and the brakes when I can put them on.

Oh and I'm not sure about which brakes you can swap onto yours. As far as my experience goes.... you can basically swap anything onto any subie.... But don't get me wrong, alot of the times, you may end up needing to swap more than just that one part to work.... but luckily for us, most of the WRX/STi parts are pretty good upgrades for us in most cases so we can get them for cheap when they go out and spend several hundred dollars on something and pass down their stock parts to us.

You definitely can't go wrong with a deal like that. I don't think anyone else would have passed that up. I would not have if I had the money.

That is very nice to know. I appreciate any help/info I can get. I'm just getting into Subaru's, and I really don't know that much about them. But I love working on cars, taking on challenges, learning new tricks, how to's, and just anything in general.

what do you guys think about rhino-lining under the black "door ding" stripe all the way around the car? I think it would look pretty good, and it would really serve its purpose for me. the paint below that mark is getting really bad in some spots, so it would cover that up, prevent from rusting (unless it's from the inside obviously), and I think it would actually look pretty sweet......

Looks super good and so rare. I say nay to the rhino too, usually turns out worse than you're expecting.

I thought Bugeye brakes were supposed to be a direct bolt on as long as you had everything, calipers, hangers (right name?), rotors etc.

I'm pretty sure they are a direct bolt on. The thing is, I'll be using a big brake kit rotors and caliper mount extensions. The legacy brakes don't seem to fit, but the wrx ones will. I was incorrect about needing the spindle.... I'm pretty sure I just need the calipers. I'll know in about a week once my braided lines get here. Dont wanna have to bleed my brakes several times lol
