STi Short Shift Kit re air filter

Post by Ross »

Rod, I like yourself have an RS Liberty. Is there much difference in performance with this mod, from the standard setup and if so do you perceive it down low? How do I get a hold of that article you mention ( and any other articles on the RS Turbo, for that matter)?
Cheers
Ross

STi Short Shift Kit re air filter

Post by Dave C »

I'd love to see any modified turbo intakes.

I'm looking at one from MRT, and one from another company in
Australia, but it's hard to get good pictures of them.

ross,
yes.
the std inlet is VERY restrictive, as is the std rear muffler and the exhust flange which bolts to the turbo.. the mod i mention is not expesive or difficult. try it.... you won't be dissapointed.
with the air filter mod and exhaust, down low driveability is much better and is more responsive.
the article i mention (inlet mods) is from an old magazine i have from 1993. i do not have a scanner but if you, possibly others, are interested i can get it scanned by my brother inlaw. it may take a week before i see him.
regards, rod.

Post by acroxford@hypermall.net »

I have a K&N on my '94 turbo motor that is in my Imprezza coupe. I
moved it after measuring the under hood temp with a dual channel
meter.
On a 90 degree day in heavy to moderate traffic I recorded 170 under
the hood and 100 under the fender. I could feel some gain in
performance. The K&N is pretty well protected in the inner fender but
is a bit of a chore to clean.
