CN:Krokodil is cheap alternative to Heroin in Russia. 1/3 of Heroin addicts reside in Russia and the poorest of them are turning to new home-made drug tagged Krokicil (Crocodile) because it's much cheaper. Causes skin to turn scaly and dark and then flesh literally rots off the body. Life expectancy on Krocodil is less than 1 year.
Pics and videos inside link. Absolutely disgusting. Even after their flesh begins rotting off they are so addicted and the withdrawels are so much worse that they continue using it til they die.

"Your testes are close to your bottom but you still play with them all the time." Jeremy Clarkson
The biggest problem I've had with addicts is that their addictions take too long to kill them, sucking up the resources in various ways from the people who actually want to live the whole while. In lieu of the government lacking the intelligence to legalize drugs, which can then be taxed and regulated and which the repeal of prohibition has proven to be a far better solution, nobody seems to agree with my "inhumane" alternate solution of eliminating the junkies (they're trying to kill themselves anyway). Nobody is going to sell a product when there is no market, but a big market guarantees a constant supply of sellers. This drug sounds great! If only we could substitute all the heroin with this, a good portion of the junkie problem would spike then decline rapidly. After all, people do this to themselves in full awareness of the consequences. Were I more conspiracy-minded, I'd think the Russian government cooked this up to do just what I suggested about eliminating the junkies. Certainly, they've shown little sympathy for people in the past. The humanity of it may be in dispute, but the logic certainly holds up better than the present idea of trying to maintain a ban on drugs, which is about as effective as trying to reverse the rotation of a hurricane by shouting into the wind.
