Fuel filler neck question

Post by magicmike »

Can someone please confirm that this is the correct part number for a 1994 legacy wagon.

Its almost half price from what I've seen online so I'm a little apprehensive of ordering it without some verification.

Cool, thanks. I'm actually thinking about JB welding the shit out of the pinholes and spraying ruberized undercoating all over it. I know its ghetto but I really just need it to last a the winter and I'm unloading this thing as soon as I can get a new awd daily driver to replace the g35

Are you selling the wagon that you're doing your stereo build on?

#$%^$@@#$##$%$$#@ CAR!!!!!!

This took me about 4 hours to replace! yes 4 hours!!!!!! EVERY SINGLE bolt I touched broke off at the head. The 3 simple phillips head screws at the top got stripped and had to be drilled out! The hose clamp was way under the rear crossmember and I could barely reach it. And to boot I couldn't find my 10mm box wrench!

I havent flipped out swearing at my car in a long time, hope the neighbors didn't mind lol

I replaced my filler neck a couple weeks ago, and had the same problems, minus the missing wrench lol. Those phillips screws are tough! Only difference with me is I went through this twice, because I got my replacement one off of a parts car. After I hauled to the junkyard. At least he didn't charge me for it!

#$%%@@$#%&^*^ CAR!!!

OK really starting to get pissed off at this car now. Our love hate relationship has gone to pure hate at this point lol

So I replaced the fuel filler neck a few weeks ago and that was a total bitch! Well this morning I'm running a few minutes late for work (as usual) and I realize I don't have enough gas to make it to work. I pull into the gas station near the house to grab just a few gallons to get me to work since I was late. Well, I grab the cap and it makes about an 1/8 of a turn and completely locks up. Like it got cross threaded or something coming out. Well I proceed to try to screw it back in that extra 1/8 and all I get is clicks. POS! so the only tool I have in the car in a tiny flat blade screwdriver (for setting the gains on my amps) and that didn't help at all.

I cancel the credit card transaction and haul ass back home to get this cap off. once in the driveway, I grabbed my second biggest pair of channel-locks and proceed to destroy the cap until finally the black top part explodes off leaving the white threaded part still in the neck! I then played with that for a few minutes and finally got that out.

So, I screwed the broken piece back in loosely, threw the pliers on the back seat, went inside to curse the car to my girlfriend at which time I received "you know I hate that car". My reply was "its time to get rid of that thing."

Made it back to the gas station and put about a half a tank in it and made it to work about 1/2 hour late.

I'm at the crossroads here with this loaf. I mean we've had some good times and all but shes starting to let me down when I need her. I also forgot to mention that the sunroof leaked on both sides the other day after me just doing the whole sunroof a few years ago. All the time I spent repairing the rusted out rear quarters a few summers ago and now they are coming back. The two front fenders are rotted at the bottoms. The rotors are all rusted over from being parked outside and not driven in the summers.

What to do, what to do. I need to unload this thing, my g35 and my bike and just get one new awd car.

Mike,

Unfortunately, I would agree, it's time to dump the car. If you don't have time, ambition, etc to fix all the BS, you should just unload it. It really sounds like you're at or have crossed the hill where the amount of stuff going wrong will just increase.

I'm kind of at that crossroad with the Impreza. The stripped spark plug hole was the last draw for me. I don't want to be doing a bunch of maintenance on a daily driver. Luckily it was fixed with relative ease and that has given me some more time to search for an 05-07 MT Legacy Wagon.

Yeah, just unsure what to do. Do I pull the motor and store it in the corner of the garage and scrap the shell or do I sell it for next to nothing? I need to figure that out.

I've had my eye on a 2007 328xi that's literally down the street from my house. Its a dark gray metallic with black interior with brushed aluminum accents (my fav choice). It's got just shy over 75k miles but looks pretty decent from the online photos. Price was 19,500 a month ago, 18,500 yesterday, and 17,500 today lol. This thing is burning a hole in someones ass. I think I'll take a ride by tonight and take it for a spin.

Why would you pull the motor? Would you sell it separately, or do you plan to buy another shell and build it up later? Im my mind, ultimately it will depend on how much time you have. If you have time to pull the motor and you want to keep it and anything else for a future build, then do that. If you sell it out right, you probably won't get more than $1,000 or so for it. If you have a project in mind for the future and you would need the engine and misc items again,, then pull it if you don't need the money that bad.

I know you know this, but I'll caution you about buying most german cars that are outside of their warranty. I would not recommend it.....
