I've been having trouble starting my 93 AWD L 5-speed for a while. Basically, I when I turn the key, I'll just get a click. Sometimes it takes 5 tries to start, others 20, it seems to be harder to start when the car is cold. Once I've been driving it for a while, it typically starts first try. Also, I will sometimes get a buzzing of sorts from the dash.
I've check the battery terminals, and I don't think that is the issue. What am dealing with here? Starter solenoid? Starter relay? Any advice would be welocme. I can't rely on my motorcycle for too much longer this season here in Michigan, I've got to get the Suub back on the road.

Re: Starting problems 1993 Legacy L
It's probably the starter solenoid contacts. Have you tried hitting the solenoid with a hammer or something and see if it starts after that?
This thread has info on changing the contacts.

Well, less than $10 and a couple of pieces of copper later and I seem to be in business..the car starts and no clicking. However, I am still getting an occasional buzzing-type noise from the cluster. Starter relay? Something else?

so what was it?
Re: Starting problems 1993 Legacy L
And here I thought the problem was my battery. Good to know it's something else
However, it concerns me a bit if it's the starter since the thing was replace like two years ago. Hopefully its the ignition switch instead
