90 ss completly dead?!? Please help

Post by antslegggy »

Hey guys , honestly stumped, car driven like a champ for awhile. Last night went to the video store, came back, perfectly fine. No problems , didn't feel anything wrong . Went to the car this morning and climbed in and no light when I opened the door, like no light on the dash that showed the door was open. Turned the key to each stage and nothing. Checked and everything's connected. Battery's there. But she currently is dead. I'm lost I checked and there were no lights left on or anything . :/ getting a charger brought over .

Hooked a meter, she's got a full charge, hooked the car up while the battery was in it for a jump and even then I got nothing. No lights . Nothing?

No, what and where is that. My step dad/ car guy says that it might be bad wires or a bad connection.

Ok , cleaned all the wires , charged battery, put it back and the second I connected the negative wire to the tower, the abs control module thingy started humming and my abs light is now on. My mechanic/ step father/ car guy says it might be low voltage? Just sitting in the car now listening to her, she sounds fine, going for a test drive will post when I get back .

So I've come to conclusion the humming sound is coming from the abs module , and that in turn is drawing all the energy from the battery . After driving it around everything seems fine but I turned the car off to get some gas and the noise didn't stop, got back in the car and went to start it, the car paused , the cranked over it it was really weak. Any suggestions are much appreciated

Sometimes the ABS modules will go bad and just run all the time suckin major amounts of power.
Unplug the module and run it for a week or so and see what happens

The red slow burning fuse in front of the black line fuse, it's the abs fuse. Pull it an no more abs lol mine did a similar thing. Just drive carefully in the snow.

The SBF's are the larger box looking ones in the fuse box in the engine compartment. The underside of the fuse box should be labeled.

Ok, I charged the battery all night Saturday. Threw it into the car sunday morning and again when it was connected the abs unit started humming. So I unplugged the battery and pulled the abs fuse. Started the car let it run for 5 min and plugged the abs fuse back in and voile ! No more humming. Still a little baffled but no abs light no humming. But the car seens to be back to normal. Perplexing .

I have a suspicion you have not seen the last of this problem. Hopefully you have, but if you haven't, you may want to try leaving the ABS fuse out for a week or so and see if the problem continues.

Well. It's been about a week and sure as the day is long the abs unit kicked in and started running again after the car was turned off. So I pulled the abs slow burning fuse and I'll be driving without it for awhile( even tho there's a little bit of snow in the forecast ) is it a possibility that the abs unit is shot? The car drove done no problems no abs light nothing then all the sudden the light popped on, and the unit started running again?

It sounds like a loose wire that may be shorting things out. The wire or connection may be in the ABS unit or in the wiring harness to the ABS unit. Check the harness to make sure everything looks good.
