new to suby's, rods forged?

i've read on a couple sites that rods from the ej22e came forged from the factory. i just need some confirmation from the guru's on this site.

Yes. The crank also. Not the pistons.

That's funny. I got a subaru pretty early in my life. Not that my life has been that long but probably a year or so after I started driving I had my first legacy. I quit smoking pot less than a year later and it's going on 6 years since.

Are the EJ22E pistons the same as the EJ22T? Also, are they the same dimensions and strength as the EJ257 pistons? I have a spare EJ257 in my garage that only came with 2 rods and 3 pistons or 2 pistons and 3 rods, can't remember which. Needs rods and either a new crank or machining because of spun bearing. Could I use EJ22 rods in it on the EJ257 crank with aftermarket forged pistons?

As Steve mentioned the rods are forged, but if you're looking to do a higher hp build in the motor I would replace them with some Eagle rods.

i will be aiming for higher horsepower. i've just gotten into subaru, migrated from civic dseries turbo's. do these factory rods crap out at around 10-12 lbs on a ej22e?

it would make sense that if im getting aftermarket forged pistons, might aswell and pony up for some rods. just trying to coble together some junkyard positive pressure for now. i scored a ej22t block complete, with rod and piston #4 destroyed and holes in both crankcase halves top and bottom. going to score the oil pan, im, turbo, loom, and all the other neccesaries. just wondering if there's any cheap alternative for fuel management other than megasquirt. its all about the tuning, and cleanliness of parts

When you say higher hp, what kind of hp are you referring to?

Are you planning on boosting a non-turbo ej22? If so, will your aftermarket forged pistons be lowering the compression ratio?

I think the stock rods should probably be good up until around 250-300 hp. I was around 300 chp and was running stock internals. They will probably work fine, but they may not hold up in the long run or provide an extra margin of safety if the tuning is off at all.
