So i purchases a stage 2 revtronix chip. It didn't come with the USB cord. Would you guys be able to provide some info on how to make one?
I found the software for revscan on the forum but it sounds like i might need drivers? Is this true? Where can I get them?
Once i get this made is there anyways to do the updates to my chip? I guess the one I have doesnt have the updates.
Thanks

Re: Revscan USB connector/Revtronix updates
1) the EvoScan usb cable for our subarus is the exact same cord. Yes you need drivers, which come with evoscan (think somwhere on the website) of the USB chipset vendors forum (I forget the link atm.... was something starting with ftv).
2) RevScan can modify a few parameters in the chip, along with resetting the ecu, editing knock tables, etc.
3) chip software updates are not possible. the revscan author is MIA. source code was not released.

Re: Revscan USB connector/Revtronix updates
I got my driver from this site:
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm
I'm having trouble getting readings right now, I'm wondering if I downloaded the wrong driver?

Re: Revscan USB connector/Revtronix updates
Check out my post HERE. It might give you some ideas. It's kinda ugly but it worked.
Edit: Remembered I bought one of these FTDI cables and hooked to my Metra connector. Didn't need the external 5v charger w/this cable.
Pretty sure it was the TTL-232R-5V model. <$20 on Amazon or Ebay
Google found the Metra to SSM connector on Amazon for $2.
So, for about $25-30 you can have the same cable.
In this PIC I used the top two inner wires 2 (white) 3 (green) and bottom right wire 9 (purple/black). 2>>5 = RXD, 3>>4 = TXD, 9>>1 = GND

Metra pin-out (looking @ the front - 180° from my pick):

Looking online the wire colors aren't consistent, so don't use that for reference.

Re: Revscan USB connector/Revtronix updates
Thanks. Luckily i have all these things laying around the garage. (Since i dont have a radio i can just steal that connector right?)
I know this is a dumb question but where does the metra connector connect. My wiring in a discombobulated mess right now (dash is ripped out and a cage is in).

Re: Revscan USB connector/Revtronix updates
The SSM connector - that the Metra connects to - is under Driver's side dash, right above your right leg. In a normal car, it's easy to see if you remove the lower plastic piece that has the coin tray.cafifty wrote:Thanks. Luckily i have all these things laying around the garage.
