Just bought 1992 touring wagon. has a td04 turbo, wrx top mount intercooler. the previous owner install a vent to atmosphere blow off valve which I believe is messing everything up. car is really doggy and has a code 22 and 23 and check engine light is always going on and off.. kinda smells like gas on occasion too.

got any ideas?
and what do i need to put it back to venting into the the manifold? detailed parts description would be great.

also the speedo cable is broke but i dont think that would affect anything?

thanks
Ben

oh and it dies on occasion if you brake really hard... I think that comes back to the manifold pressure issue though?

I have the same set up on my SS and have no problems with the BOV venting to the atmosphere. http://legacycentral.org/library/literature/codes.htm

22 is the knock sensor
23 is the MAF

Oh BTW I have a 02-05 WRX IC. It is impossible to vent the BOV to the manifold. IF it's a 06-07 you should be able to do it.

The lack of speed signal can cause havoc with the ECU. I would recommend going back to a recirculating BPV setup over the atmospheric vent valve. Overall, the engine will run better with it.
