Low Fuel light staying on

Post by DD50 »

Ever since I've had the car the low fuel light never lit up when I turned the car on. About a week ago I switched all the bulbs to L.E.Ds including the low fuel light. It now lights up but always stays on when I'm driving. I don't mind it that much but it would be nice if it worked properly. I'm pretty sure the old bulb burned out which is why it didn't work. So the question is, what would cause the light to always stay on?

I kind of suspect the LED, however if you put a regular bulb in there and it still lights up, the problem is with the low fuel light sender in the tank.

Here's the wiring diagram.

You can disconnect the fuel pump connector under the rear seat to see if the light goes off and to test it, and check the continuity of the low fuel light sender. If it shows 0 ohms between it and ground when the tank has enough fuel in it, then it's likely broken.
