Marvelous

Post by John King »

Thanks for the input, I am glad that I didn't waste 15 bucks on the Prolong.
I would like to talk about Marvel Mystery Oil though. I don't know what
is in this stuff, as the name implies, besides petroleum distillates. As it
is in the upper peninsula of Michigan we get plenty of snow and the cold to
go along with it. This stuff really does greatly improve cold starts,
protecting from stiff lubricants and engine oils tendency to congeal. I
also used it in my first Subie 1987 GL after it came down with a nasty
lifter knock (only after 270k miles on the engine). After I put it in the
knock cleared up right away. This stuff really does a job cleaning up any
sludge, gum, and varnish in the top end of the engine including valves,
rings, upper cylinder walls, and hydraulic lifters. I usually add a half
quart to my crankcase at the last 500 miles or so before my next oil change
to clean out any deposits and the improvement is immediate and very
noticable, much like after a fresh oil change. It says that it also can be
added to your gasoline to protect and lubricate the fule pump and carb. I
do this often but cannot tell if it does have any improvement in the fule
system. The biggest plus about this stuff, it's only about $3.00 for a
quart which definatly makes it worth trying out at least once. Try it out,
see what you think and I hope you get the great results that I have.
