Can anyone verify 2 Part Numbers for me?

Post by SaltyBeefCubes »

37410AA121 I'm relatively certain this is the Speedo Cable for a 1990 FWD legacy LS.

737411752 is the speedo cable base that plugs into the transmission.

I'm almost 100% of the second part number as I've seen a few threads pointing to this part's common problem of breaking on 1st gens as well as pictures. The second one, I'm about 50/50 because I've seen a few different cables for the 1st gens.

I'm about to check out at subaruparts.com and just want to make sure my order is exactly what I need.

thank you so much in advance!!!

Hi,
For future reference try Subarupartsforyou.com and 1stSubarparts.com.

I googled 37410AA121 and it appears you're correct, but it doesn't come up on the two parts site I list.

The subarupartsforyou includes pictures; the 1stSubaruParts has better pricing.

There's a link posted by Josh Colombo/Legacy777 for the parts catalog. Find that and it should have your #'s.

For very good pricing also, I order my parts from - tell him you're on the Subaru forums:

What year was your car made and/or what model year was it? The parts book lists two different cables depending on when it was made. If you have a 90 MY that was built on or before Feb 89 it uses the 37410AA121 cable. All the other cars use the 37410AA151 cable with the 737411752 base piece.

FYI, www.subaruparts.com is one of the few if not only site any more that has not purged the older part #'s. So even if you don't use it, it's a good tool to know what has been superceded, etc.

BTW, check out the stuff you need to know forum for a link to the parts book.

Ya the car is a 1990 LS FWD. I tried to find out what month the car was made, but the P/O must have ripped the sticker that's tells you the manf. specs off of the car's door. So I'm going to have to find a way to decode the VIN and hope that can tell me something. Because it would suck to order the wrong cable and have to wait another week or two for this.

PM or email your VIN and I can give you the manufacture date. The date should also be on the metal plate that is located on the driver's side strut tower.

Just to corroborate that mfg date matters. Subaru parts search is a hit and miss.

One of the dealers asked if the car is AT or MT after I provided VIN. They said that VIN search isn't too useful for car this old.

All Subaru dealer eStore use the same web engine. I believe its a Trademotion core, which is setup to conceal part number on retail side portal.

The Subaru search engine refers me to 37410AA121. I know this, because that's the # I was given after I ordered online and called about it subsequently.

The correct one for mine is
37410AA151
737411752

If you're in PDX area or have a WA shipping address , I would get them from CARR SUBARU in Beaverton
Call 503-616-5892 parts and ask for Bill. He seems to know what he's doing. Give him the VIN and parts description. I'm told providing VIN on web is useless until about MY1997. Get the P/N, THEN place the order through the website.
