how long will it last, what are options

Post by nosyt »

so just looking towards the future and the next weak point
car is an ej22t with dohc heads
sti cams, injectors, valve springs
robtuned running up to 18psi
and running an ACT six puck with HD pressure plate
five speed is out of (so im told) an 98~ outback
3.9 gears soon with lsd rear diff

so my question.... how long should i expect this tranny to last ive been told its my next weak point
and what would be my next option for upgraded tranny id like to keep 3.9 ratio as i do a lot of highway driving

is there a five speed that will withstand a punishment or is it time to start saving for six speed

All the 5spds are essentially the same with minor design changes on the synchros and other small bits. They can last a long time if not abused. I think that has more to do with it than anything. Probably the only sure fire solution is the 6spd.
