HI,
Not dumb...but you'll want to Search on here for specifics. Lots of info to learn....so start reading up.

Subaru turbos don't require to pull the engine.

The biggest challenge is dealing with the different turbo outlet positions. You'll have to create a different turbo outlet piping and/or put in an intercooler.

Yeah I was going to install an intercooler when I did the turbo install..is a FMIC hard to put in? or is it not worth the trouble trying to run all the piping? just stick with a top mount?

Yes it's not easy, and it's pointless with a td04.
