Just put motor in, now overheating

Post by beaconhillkilla »

I have a 92 legacy ss, just pulled the engine out to redo all of the seals. It was running perfectly fine before, but now it is burning coolant and overheating like crazy. There is also some water pooling above where the coolant (intake?) line is to the turbo. All I can think of is that I connected a coolant line wrong and messed something up. I find it very strange that It would go from working perfectly (less burning some oil) to having a cracked head or blown gasket all of a sudden when those were never touched.

I also hear a strong hissing sound when I turn the motor off, and a gurgling sound as well. Here is a quick video I made:

My guess is one of the coolant lines under the intake manifold is cracked or isn't connected all the way. Such as the ones that go to the throttle body.

Hey, didn't I give you a broken Ej motor back in the day, when I lived in Seattle?

Yep, I lived in a 1 bedroom house on 130th, lol. I've come a long way too. Are you going to any local events this year?

I'm going to Olympus for sure, going to drive down from Bellingham. But..problem solved. I'm not used to having the radiator fill res. on the top of the motor, I attached the main coolant flow line going to the radiator into one of the vacuum lines. Yeah..whoops.

Hey least you found it before it caused some damage. :)

I'll be at Olympus, WCSS, probably BNW, and also probably the Cascade Loop if they decide on a date that works.
