Exhaust Manifold question....

Post by devilzdriver »

I've looked and kinda want peoples input, i have a 92ss and it has a UEL on it. The UEL is all pitted and starting to show some rust holes, i got my hands on a 2004 WRX exhaust manifold which ive read fits perfect. But here is my question how DID YOU guys go about getting the exhaust manifold off without breaking studs? I wana be extra careful because ive heard nightmares about snapping studs... Thanks gang

Soak with PB Blaster, tap on the breaker bar handle with a mallet, wait a while, and repeat with increasing force.

With exhaust bolts you may want to repeatedly spray for a couple days if its not coming loose.

If you can get your hands on a torch and heat them up a bit, that's worked for me on stuburn exhaust bolt/ studs.
