hi,
I have a '93 SS that is need of new rear wheel bearings. I have heard that it is much easier to just replace the entire hub assembly (with bearing already pressed onto hub) than just changing the bearing alone. I know that one way to get these parts is to goto the junk yard and pull them off of an old car. However, I would like to replace my old hub/bearing with new ones.
My quesiton is, does anyone know of a place where I can buy a hub/bearing assembly (with the bearing already installed) for my '93 SS? All I can seem to find online is hub and bearings sold seperately. I've heard that this hub assembly is the same as the '02 wrx... is this correct?
that is true that it is easier, and junk yard is possibly cheaper.
I have a 94 legacy and I'm having some time with my front left, it's on it's 3rd hub,
cause I been getting crap hubs from old cars,
thinking new is the answer but I hear that they don't make ones that
go deep enough anymore.
I don't know where your from '93 Legacy SS... so I can't help you with your question
You can't install a hub and bearing that are already pressed together. Bearing gets pressed into the upright, snap ring and seals go in, then hub goes in.
What people are talking about is replacing the entire upright with a bearing and hub already installed. For that, almost anything for an 90-99 Legacy or 93-07 Impreza will work.
If you keep having to replace bearings or hubs then there is either a problem with the upright (they can bend and bearing housings can be out of round or spec), or a problem with the hub (they wear where they go into the bearing).
If you are just replacing the hub/bearing, there's no problem getting parts that work. Like I said, an 07 impreza uses the same stuff (excluding the sti).
