Wiring question

Post by Lowie »

My car's been sitting for atleast 6 years now, and we're trying to get it to turn over. We had a breaker bar on the crank and we were turning it and it was working. When we try to actually turn it over, nothing happens... I know this could be a number of things..

but we looked in the fuse panel under the dash, and there was two unplugged wires, black with a red strip green female plug and the other is black wire with a red stripe with a male plug that fits the female. Are these supposed to be connected together, or what are they for? Figured I'd ask on here.

So the engine doesn't turn over at all? If not, first thing I'd check is the starter. Is the battery good. You could try getting a jumper wire with a button so you can run a lead from the battery to the starter and try starting it that way. That would tell you whether the issue is associated with the starter, the wiring, or something else.

Do the unplugged connectors look like this?

If so, they are the diagnostic connectors and should be left unplugged unless you want to check the ECU for codes. More info can be found on my site:
